Hello Every body !!!

I live in Istanbul. Istanbul seems to a state, not city. Istanbul is a cosmopolitan metropolis. What if do you want in Istanbul, you can find it. Istanbul is a monument from the crooked industrialized and urbanized. You can see rich people and poor people as together .Some of local luxury places are separated from general people.

You can see thousand of shanty houses which put up quickly without proper permissions near the skyscrapers.

However there are many universities as private or state, many old palaces from Ottoman Empire or Byzantine a lot of historical mosques and churches, a lot of international big and famous hotels, a nice bosphour with modern and wonderful two bosphour bridges which are between Asia and Europe, a lot of parks and seaside.

Istanbul has many cinema saloon and they has stereo or Quattro sound system... some voices come your back side, the others come left side, you can live inside of film... Many films are in English but with Turkish writing...

Turkey has many natural beauty... Even Bosphour likes a river and my home very near to Bosphour... Turkey has very much touristic cities, beaches, and hotels... I go every summer to holiday even in Istanbul... Istanbul very near black sea, you can rent a flat, and you can go to sea with swim wear from hotel...

Turkey and Istanbul has a lot of sea and mountain. You can see all of them in Turkey ... You can watch the Bosphour ( Bosphour is a sea in Istanbul, it seems to a large river), and you can take on the ship and can go to Asia side from Europe side in Istanbul by the marine way... You can take on the boat, can have a Bosphour tour till Black sea from Istanbul sea (Marmara sea) ... You can go to some islands in marmara sea with ships...You can go to some beaches in Istanbul... The all sea side of Istanbul is beach... You can see some young men who stop the own cars and jump to the sea suddenly... You can watch to all Istanbul view from a roof bar in the 60 folded luxury hotels if you have money to drink tea with 5-6 USD...You can go to Mediterranean sea and you can be a Negro from sun... The water has more salt and very warm...You can go to picnics to forest in some mountain in Istanbul... you can grill at this picnic...

Istanbul is an encyclopedia, I’m reading it for 45 years, but I could not finished yet. So that, I can not tell you about it in one letter...

You can live 3-4 seasons as together in Turkey... For example today is summer day and very warm, 32-35 degree in Istanbul... Windy but hot sunny... and damp, humid, moist.... from the Bosphour like a river.... But the black sea shores are lukewarm and rainy, and mountains very cold...like a spring... East of Turkey( near Georgia) the days are warm, the nights are cold and mountains has snow and you can make ski...like a winter...

And Istanbul has only maximum 2 weeks snowy in winter... The kids can play snow ball only one week in Istanbul...

In my country, nobody says or calls as Muslim women to Turkish women...
My people don't say "Christian women" to Russian women, or to German women... My people don't say as "Muslim women" to Arabian women or Iranian women... we only say Russian women, Norwegian woman, Moldavian women etc... We never classification as religion, we do it as for only country names... The religion is not important in my country... Turkey is a modern Islamic but not fundamentalist country... Not similar Chechnya...

As you know Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and his friends built on modern Turkey in 1923... ( and V.I.Lenin helped him)... ( with J.Stalin , everything was destroyed...)

The Turkey people has two religion or celebration weeks in a year, one of them is Ramazan Bayram, the other is Kurban Bayram...Ramazan is an Arabic month is coming from Muslim Religion, the all Muslims fasts whole a day along a month.(Bairam or bayram means religious festival)The end of Ramazan the Muslims celebrates a ramazan bairam...They eats a lot of sweet and desert foods, sweet pastries etc. The Muslims victimize some ships or cows etc in kurban bairam and donate their fleshes to poor people and poor neighbours..There are Muslim traditions..

The Turkey people usually has two parts as religion ;.a-Conservative Muslim group never drinks alcohol and never celebrate noel....b-Modern or usual or mixed group drinks alcohol, fasts, celebrates bairams and noel... I am in (b) group ...

There is a cultural big cliff between two public groups in Turkey. One of them Feudal Anatolian public they are farmer... ...the second part has capitalist mentality, and they has modern appearance. The last group has three parts as a-intellectual but rich, (they live in villas) b-intellectual but middle class (they live apartments) and c-non intellectual but rich.(they live apartments and villas).. Feudal Anotalian group has two groups as ; a-rich and b-poor... (a) group lives in villas but they have not high culture, ( b) group lives in suburbs...

Turkey state could not destroy feudalism.... A big part of society was stay in feudalism, a little groups could leaped at over class as new reach classes but some of them has high culture...What a pity the Turkish culture is not homogeneous and does not show modern appearance. And usually, a big group has high culture but they are not in rich class...They are middle and middle down classes.

But Turkey is not similar Afghanistan, or Uzbekistan... or Arabia...Turkey seems to Greece or Italy... You can see many girls with mini skirt...on the road... with tanga...at the beach...

Only Turkey has not a good parliament choosing system and parliament does not represent to my people in WHITE-HOUSE in ANKARA CITY( capital city of Turkey-)

And Turkey is depend of imperialism ( I mean depend of IMF- International Money Found-)now in last 10 years, with big helping our some politicians...

The capitalism of Turkey was stopped by England and USA, and had been pushed inside of feudalism again now... They afraid of Turkey... Turkey has a 3rd big army of the world ...

Turkey has a big economic crisis since 1999, 4 years ago... And I was earning 1200-1600 usd in 1999, and it was a big money.. while 1 USD was equal 850,000 Turkish money... But today 1 USD=1,450.000 Turkish money... Everybody was getting poor as half rate for today, after this crisis, and I lost my job for 2 years, and I spent my own money from my bank or pocket during two years...

And Turkey has many car factories, HONDA, TOYOTA, FORD (focus), MERCEDES( only TOURIST BUSES NOT CAR), MITSUBISHI-BUSES, HYUNDAI, FIAT, RENAULT- megan), CATERPILLAR WORKING AND BUILDING MACHINERY) MANY FOODS AND DRESSING INDUSTRY...

And the west world put a barrage now, to Turkey... How the west world break USSR, and Ottoman empire, now they brake Turkey now...

But my art and profession is very important, because I am advertiser, and now the Turkish economy is growing up again, and many business men need to graphic designer like me, for making advertisement for their products... In communist time, the ART was for only propaganda, in capitalism the art is for economy... but the art is for cultural imperialism by USA under the name of globalism...and under the modern culture...with pop culture.... For example you can not see very meaningful and wonderful, and artistic and thematic Italian or French movies on Turkish TV's, all of them presents only American films !!!!!!!!!!!!! like a propaganda !!!

And your country and mine has similar culture, because we and you hang the carpets on the wall, like a picture... we put them on the bed...as cover of bed... we say karpuz, you say arbuz, ( in RUSSIAN) we say divan, you say divan... we say patlican, you say baklajan...we say bardak for glass to drinking water, you say bardak for untidy and dirty home... we have many common points... for example the marriage is very important for both of us more than Germany or Belgium or Holland...

I always see in internet thousands women in ex.socialist countries, and they have only one common theme ; they want a man who must concern his family, his wife and his children, he must be manly man... The tall, age, appearance is not important for them...Enough money, and character is more important for all of them...(and many marriage agencies take foreigner men’s money by this way)...

But I see in American or Australian, or European marriage sites, the all women don’t need marriage, they need only lover, and even they give (determine) the size of man organ... They are in different level, different dimension...And theirs state are near them for theirs good or bad days...They never want to have child, but ex.socialist country's women want child...

And as to my mind, the societies has two groups on the world ; family oriented, and not family oriented...

Usually former socialist women write; “do want to fall in love, to create my family based onlove, support and understanding.” The women of America, dont need to family based love, they need only toy.

And the man must keep on his word and to earn one's living, and the main thing is concern for is the family in my culture and in your culture...

Thanks to God, our some good traditions could not been destroy by the others...

Best wishes and thanks to every body...

Faruk

So sure I have read you new article ;-) It cheers me up a lot to see that you are willing to know other cultures and also help others to know more about the one you originate from. Ukraine/Russia does have lots in common with Turkey, that is all about history where our ancestors lively “communicated” … I never been to Turkey myself though now many people travel there for vacation time, so opportunities are open to do that. I appreciate you share your knowledge with others – and really wish others also do the same. Thanks for interesting things you told about! N.

Ok, here I am, as promised found a minute free to read the newly posted article you offered. You did it nicely, even those who never been there can have an idea about the place… I was there and it was real nice to make memories back to life reading these lines – I did saw Bosphorus and Marmara Denize as you say, and also many other nice places too. Was rather impressed after visiting Aya-Sofia… Istanbul is unique – just the only city in the world located on two continents simultaneously. Here you are in Europe – cross the bridge, and in counted minutes you are walking in Asia. You say that explore this place for the last 45 years, all your life… so my couple of days were so short to see much! Maybe next time… It’s good that now we have “boundaries open” as we say here, anyone who can travel – can do it easy. Hope it’s not going to change... But how one can be sure, living here is very unpredictable, everyone can say that...

Hi to all from Canada:

Yes, Turkey is indeed a wonderful country.

I should remind you that a western man can also arrange a meeting with the Russian/Ukranian lady with whom he is communicating in Turkey. This is a viable alternative for him to go to Russia or Ukraine to meet her. I know that it may sometimes get compicated to obtain a Russian visa. For Turkey, in most cases, obtaining visa is either not necessary or not a problem. This is true for Western countries as well as for Russia and Ukraine. Another advantage to this kind of meeting is that both parties will be in a "neutral" region since this is not the home country of either party. Accordingly both parties may feel more at ease with each other. Moreover, you can also benefit from the wonderful hotels, beaches, resort areas, profound culture, and good cusine of this wonderful country.

I should specifically thank Faruk for intiating this line of discussion in this forum.
