I guess, Darya, many older women here will understand all wisdom of this parable but not all older men...

A wonderful story, Darya... It may sound strange, but your story makes wonderful sense even from a mathematical point of view!

Wow Blaine, she wants you to think! Doesn't she know we men don't think? We act by instinct and desires (at least when it comes to love). I believe she ask for too much ;-)

This parable does not make me think. It is a sad prose about desperation , loneliness, and the need for love. Time and age take away our vitality, our beauty, our innocence, the people we embrace, and after a little while,as Shakespeare said, our lips are dumb ( dead). It was a romantic story, however.

this story is pure emotion--I do not have to think about it. It does not challenge my brain because it is a matter of the heart. There is no way for me to debate or challenge what you have written. It is more than mere speculation and opinion-which are things I can think about and will debate with you. It is an emotional and spiritual essay, and a parable. It describes the feelings of love and emotion, which are not really arguable unless I am to say,"do not feel that way,Darya",or,"you should not feel that way",which would simply be ridiculous. It is a non-arguable,and therefore less thought provoking essay ( in my humble opinion). Swinging from the confines of my cage---Blaine

This was a nice story, but thats all. Its the type of emotional story that works at a forum like this, it makes you think for about 2 seconds at the most. Since most of us here have emotional scars from our past love affairs, it is easy to loose ourselves in a story such as this.

It will be a debate that goes on forever as to who knows more about love, men or women. Since men are from Mars and women are from Venus, we have to be compassionate and understanding in order to get along with the opposite sex. Its the lucky ones that find the love of their lives early in their lives, and they are even more fortunate if they find the secret to love that helps them to stay with their loved ones for the rest of their lives.
Time heals all wounds, I hope.

Not only did poor girls not know about the dark secret that men came from the monkey planet, but I didn't know it either. Did you secretly learn this in one of your college books Darya? Or did it come to you in a dream?

What you don't know Blaine, is that an "interesting life" is not always the easier or the happiest one, but at least you are not going to be bored, for sure ;-)

I definitely like an active life, and active recreation. I do not like to sit around the house. No change is a scary concept for me. A relation that grows stale or withers like 2 week old roses is not for me. Sometimes there will be only one active person in the relationship, and it will be me. In Phoenix it is so hot that most people only want to be in the cool, air conditioned clubs and lounges. I am bored by this too. It takes more imagination to recreate in the desert. But if I cannot be outside because of extreme heat,I want to be expanding my thoughts in a museum or art gallery. I used to take the ex to beautiful places in Montana, but I had to beg her to go. And often she was grumpy because she felt like I forced her to get out of the house. My thought is---sometimes even negative change is better than no change at all

Hey Blaine, I had the same problem with my ex... The first time we went camping it was a disaster... That first time was also the last time we went camping together.

Can one go camping on the desert? I'd be afraid of scorpions to tell the truth... Much more so than of snakes.

I had romantic ideas about the desert. I think I had heard that song by the Eagles too many times-- the words "And I want to sleep with you in the desert tonight, with a million stars all around" So I imagined this-camping in the desert. Urban desert cities have fewer scorpions mostly in the rural areas which have little or no pavement. But it is not the scorps I worry about. It is the rattlesnakes. Arizona has had a lot of rain in the last year,so all the critters have gotten really big. If you have ever been stung by a bee, your reaction will be about the same as a scorpion. I am not allergic to bee stings. I thought I would see a lot of them because I have to go under houses often. I am more afraid of running into the brown recluse spiders in the northern states, and black widows.

Oh yeah I've seen the damage brown recluse spiders can cause (Warning, not a pretty picture!: http://www.highway60.com/mark/brs/default.htm )

All of a sudden California again seems like a goof place to camp!

About the second week in June, the fly hatch comes out in the northern states, somewhat coinciding with the beginning of fishing season. These bugs have 6 legs and are like the arachnid spiders which also come out. It is high time for what is called the Rocky Mountain Spotted Tick. There are other species of ticks too. 4 years ago I fished with my sister and her boyfriend on the historic Clark`s Fork River in Montana ( so named because the explorer William Clark made this river his shortcut to the Missouri River, where he rejoined Meriweather Lewis ) They both had several ticks on them, but I found none on me,and was very proud of my "tickless" self! 2 days later I felt a lump on my chest. For a moment I was petrified, because men can also contract breast cancer. Under my left nipple there was one of the little buggers burrowing under my skin. I extracted him very carefully ( not bloodlessly) and in a few days this spot turned necrotic ( skin died ). The skin turned grey. It was very irritated and the lump stayed with me for 3 worrisome months. I have spent much time in the wilderness ( I can start a fire with a leaf and a drop of water in bright sunlight! ) and I know better--when you get home after being in tall mountain grass, you must strip off your clothes, shake the clothes off ( preferably on a white floor),then check yourself very carefully from head to toe. When I was a kid,I found a tick in my belly button. I took it out,and directly underneath was another, which had burrowed inside of the folds of my belly button ( naval) I freaked out ( panicked) and used my pocketknife to cut the naval opening to get him out. I was very lucky. I hope that I will not contract Lymes disease from this last experience. Danger lurks everywhere. Because the world climate is changing, and regions are becoming warmer, there are more diseases which are usually confined to tropical rain forest--like malaria and encephalitis. Europe is at risk, because there are almost 2 billion people there. So--I know this doesn`t have anything to do with love!! Sorry for sabotaging your thread,Dashen`ka

Okay--back to subject. Love is grand!!! I have an "innie" belly button,so it is a good place for ticks to burrow. Even love that is fleeting and short is good love. SOmetimes we just need to spread the love around a little. Spotted tick fever used to be deadly, but is still something which requires hospitalization and innoculation. It has flu-like symptoms, and my mom was deathly sick from it. I love my mama. And she gets much respect from me too. I believe it is true that the way you treat your mama is the way you will treat your woman! The brown recluse likes to hide in firewood stacks, and so you must be very careful when poking around with your hands. :o) Okay lets talk about love/spider bites on this forum! Or maybe just LOVE BITES !

Me think? Depends… Darya, do not confuse what I said. I meant, when it comes to “love”, at least on the beginning, most men are driven more by desires than thinking… then, when we finally want to think, it is too late most of the times :(

A man in love could do the most unthinkable things ;-)
